Pedro Almodóvar’s remarkable body of work embraces melodrama, screwball comedy, noir and sci-fi, all worked through with a magical imagination that has produced a genre all of its own – it’s what the Cuban writer Guillermo Cabrera Infante termed Almodrama.
Starting on Friday, Dec 30th, O Cinema Miami Beach will embark on a week-long retrospective featuring many of the director’s best-loved films such Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (1988), All about My Mother (1999) and Volver (2006) and will culminate with the release of his 20th feature, Julieta (2016) which opens at O Cinema Miami Beach on Jan 6th.
We’re excited to revisit some of Almodovar’s most beloved films back on the big screen in glorious new digital restorations that come to Miami fresh from their premieres at the British Film Institute and New York’s Museum of Modern Art earlier this year.
