Home Movie Day, the global celebration of amateur films and filmmaking, puts on the polyester in Miami as O Cinema & the Wolfson Archives hosts “The 70s In Super8,” an intimate look at life during America’s grooviest decade, captured by home moviemakers.
What did everyday life in the 1970s actually look like? What was the interplay between pop culture images and real life? Home movies, which afford a glimpse of everyday life in the past, are uniquely suited to answer these questions. They’re also heartwarming, weird, and lots of fun.
In addition to screening footage from its home movie collections, which now number more than 4,000 reels, the Wolfson Archives will accept donations of eligible home movies from the public.
