MBC Interactive Archive Project:
“THE CUBAN REVOLUTION”
(Presented by the Miami Beach Film Society)

Adapting the innovative novel by Edmundo Desnoes, director Tomás Gutiérrez Alea creates an equally innovative reflection upon a man who becomes alienated and disengaged in post-revolutionary Cuba. Known as the most renowned work of Cuban cinema, the restoration was funded by the George Lucas Family Foundation and the Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project.

“Gutiérrez Alea developed a cinematic style as radical as the times he was chronicling, creating a collage of vivid impressions through the use of experimental editing techniques, archival material, and spontaneously shot street scenes.”
