AWAKE & AWARE is a conscious cinema program that presents opportunities to see and understand the relations between things, people, and processes, things that we usually might not see completely because of our perception of our circumstances.

SAMADHI ROAD chronicles the spiritual journey of the two brothers, which began in adolescence, during a trip to India, drawing the parallel with the process of conducting these interviews.
“Who am I?” “What is the purpose of existence?” “How can I overcome the fear of dying?” In SAMADHI ROAD, two brothers embrace the tradition of orality and journey across continents. They seek insight and wisdom from learned masters and elders sharing their glimpses of spiritual awakening. Through interviews with Benny Golson, Sonny Rollins, Kaz Tanahashi, Agnes Heller, Robert Thurman, the inimitable Mooji, and others, we follow a path of enlightenment and deep learning converging in a universal discourse of love and respect for human life.
In 2017, Julio co-directed the documentary PAGLIACCI. In 2019, Julio founded Café Royal with Luiz Villaça and Georgia Guerra-Peixe. In 2020, Julio and his brother Daniel, who works as a yoga teacher, founded “Irmãos Ahimsa” (“Ahimsa Brothers”). Through this label, the two brothers aim to promote a culture of self-knowledge and non-violence (which is the meaning of ahimsa, a sanskrit word) through filmmaking. The first two productions of “Irmãos Ahimsa” are SAMADHI ROAD (2021) and FROM LOVE NO ONE ESCAPES (LevelK/Sales, in post-production), a documentary shot inside a humanised prison system in Brazil.
