O Cinema South Beach is on the corner of 12 Street Street and Washington Avenue inside Old City Hall, the historical beige building in front of the Miami Beach Police Station. Our lobby and box office open thirty minutes before the first showtime of the day.
There is a city-owned parking lot directly behind our building on 12 street between Washington Avenue and Pennsylvania Ave. Additionally, there are multiple public and private lots within walking distance to the theater. We recommend allowing yourself ample time to park.
Located in the heart of the historic Art Deco District, O Cinema South Beach brings the best in Independent, Foreign and Art Films to South Florida audiences year-round. Located inside Historic City Hall at the corner of Washington Avenue and 12 street, the theater boasts sophisticated European-inspired design and offers affordable and engaging cultural alternatives to the nightlife of the area.
Initially built by Carl Fischer in 1927, the theater was restored and renovated in 2011 by the Miami Beach Film Society which operated the space as the Miami Beach Cinematheque. Now run by O Cinema, this beautiful space is a theater, gallery, bookstore/library, and cafe.
The Miami Beach Film Society is now a company in residence at O Cinema South Beach. Throughout the year they will present a selection of thoughtful and engaging films and retrospectives, continue to share their impressive collection of film memorabilia and posters in our galleries, and highlighting their Interactive Film Archive project- all under the curatorial leadership of film scholar Dana Keith.
