Overview

The short documentary based on fine art photographer William John Kennedy’s newly published images of Andy Warhol and Robert Indiana offers a rare look into the lives and working studios of these two key artists who influenced the course of twentieth century American art. Filled with revealing and funny anecdotes, the fast paced documentary includes interviews with Robert Indiana, artist and Warhol superstar Ultra Violet, and Taylor Mead, writer/actor/performer and the Poet Laureate of Warhol’s Factory. After over 4 decades in storage, Kennedy’s never before seen photographs are believed to be the only such images in existence. Taken in the early 60s at a time when Kennedy forged a friendship with both Warhol and Indiana, Kennedy’s photographs also feature other cultural influencers and art world notables, such as Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, Dorothy Miller, Eleanor Ward, Marisol, Henry Geldzahler and Mario Amaya. With Pop's current dominance in the art world and the rising prominence of fine art photography among collectors, the insightful short film has received wide praise from critics, art fans and film-goers alike at previous showings around the country, to include at its premiere during Art Basel/Miami Beach 2010, where according to Tom Austin (www.artbasel.aol.com) the film's standing-room-only screening in Miami Beach was, "one of the best̶ and most surreal evenings of Art Basel.” Complimentary film admission courtesy of KIWI Arts Group (kiwiartsgroup.com).William John Kennedy and Ultra Violet, along with Brian Bayerl, the film’s director, will be in attendance for a Q & A session immediately following the screening. As part of our activities in celebration of ArtBasel all screenings are presented free of charge.
