Overview
Charlie is a talented actor who like most in the profession, is struggling to find work. Life doesn’t usually favor the unemployed, but Charlie’s beautiful and accomplished wife Stella, supports him both financially and emotionally as he tries to realize his dreams. The two live in a posh NY apartment and although he is concerned about finding work, Charlie has people who care about and protect him during his professional lull.When Charlie meets fellow thespian Clea, a young woman who oozes self-confidence and sexuality, he is immediately intrigued and tempted by her charms. When Clea breezily informs Charlie that life is a party and meant to be enjoyed, the two quickly begin a hot and torrid affair.Stella eventually catches her husband and his mistress in the act at the apartment she has been renting and is justifiably hurt and angry. She demands that Clea leave and is shocked when the half-dressed woman accuses her of spoiling all of their fun. Charlie feels badly but explains that Stella has inadvertently wounded him with her competence and achievements; she makes him feel like less of a man unlike the sultry, granted juvenile Clea.Charlie ultimately moves out of his wife’s apartment, hoping that Clea will help him during this difficult transition, but Clea isn’t looking to be responsible for anyone else and is still enjoying the party…
