Overview
Dave Boyle’s Surrogate Valentine is a love letter of sorts - a love letter to being alone. San Francisco musician Goh Nakamura is the heart of this affectionate and confident film. Goh, playing himself, is barely scraping by playing live gigs and teaching guitar. Through a series of favors he doesn’t exactly want to fulfill, he connects with TV star Danny Turner (Chadd Stoops), a restless, manic near has-been who needs to learn how to play the guitar from Nakamura for his next role. Nakamura and Danny become friends, eventually, and as Nakamura reunites with an old friend of his he’s attracted to (played by Lynn Chen), he questions more than love - he learns what it means to be with other people, really be with them, and whether he wants to.Surrogate Valentine made its World Premiere at the prestigious SXSW film festival, and is embarking upon a national film festival tour. The Borscht Film Festival is presenting the South Florida Premiere of the film.FOLLOWED BY:Live Performance by Goh Nakamura

Surrogate Valentine star Goh Nakamura will bring his charming acoustic pop sound to what promises to be a fun after-party in O Cinema's courtyard. His music self described as "Dreamsicle pop ditties about parking tickets, impossible crushes and faraway dreamlands," Goh's vocals and guitar work have garnered a growing fanbase -- whether from his 1 million+ viewed YouTube video for his song Embarcadero Blues or for his inclusion in the scores of Ridley Scott films A Good Year and American Gangster.
